About Us

Thank you for inquiring about Cub Scouts Pack 28! Here is a brief FAQ about us:

What is Cub Scouts?: “Cub Scouting is fun for the whole family.  In Scouting, boys and girls start with their best right now selves and grow into their very best future selves. It’s fun, hands-on learning and achievement that puts kids in the middle of the action and prepares them for today – and for life.” Please click HERE for even more information about Cub Scouts.

Who are we?: We are a family scouting unit located in the Cypress area and chartered by our own Cypress Homeschool Association. We have dens for both boys and girls from Kindergarten to 5th grade.

When do we meet?: We meet on the first and second Thursdays between 2:30-4:00 pm as Dens (age groups) and on the fourth Thursday of the month all together as a Pack from 7:00-8:30 pm. On the third Thursday, we try to keep the Outing in Scouting by meeting up for a hike, field trip, or just park play time. We usually meet in person at a Community Venue in Cypress, but occasionally meet at local parks and other community centers.

What does a typical year in Scouts look like?: A year with Pack 28 is anything but typical! In addition to meeting at least three times a month we have two Family Campouts per year, various field trips such as touring a Fire Station and meeting with First Responders, fun activities like our annual Pinewood Derby, fundraisers and Spirit Nights, and so much more! Plus, the fun doesn’t stop at the end of the school year! We have Summer activities such as Board Gameapaloozas, our wet and wild Water Fun Night, and even a District-wide Day Camp where Scouts can practice everything from archery to STEM activities!

How much does Scouts cost?: Scouts is very affordable! There is an annual fee of less than $250 per Scout. Most extracurricular activities like sports and martial arts cost around this price for a month or two, yet this covers the entire year’s worth of program. There are small fees for other optional activities throughout the year such as Family Campouts. We also fundraise twice a year with optional buyouts available. However, we do offer payment plans and accept all forms of payment, even Venmo and Zelle.

Can I come to a meeting before signing up?: Absolutely! We encourage people to come to a meeting or two to get a feel for our group and to see if your child enjoys it. Please contact us personally and we’ll be happy to set this up for you.

How can I get more info?: By contacting one of our officers personally! We will do our best to answer any and all questions you may have about our Pack or the Scouting program in general. We look forward to meeting you and sharing all of the wonderful opportunities that Scouting has to offer your family!
